Shagbark Soap
Another Turkeywoods Farm Invention! Helps alleviates muscle & joint pain during daily cleansing. Available with lavender scent, and scent-free.

Shagbark Facts:

  •  Rich in minerals including magnesium.
  •  Used traditionally to treat muscle pain and arthritis

Magnesium deficiencies can cause muscle spasms and pain, and a daily infusion of magnesium ions may help to relieve sore muscles. Efforts to remove calcium and magnesium ions through water softening may reduce the magnesium available to us through daily bathing. Hickory bark is one of the richest plant sources of magnesium(1), which is an essential mineral for maintenance of healthy muscles.

The Pottawatomie Native American tribes knew the benefits of shagbark hickory bark. These early Americans drank shagbark tea as well as apply boiled shagbark poultices to ease the pains of sore muscles and arthritis.

Turkeywoods Farm are the inventors of Shagbark Hickory Soap. Many have found the soap helpful to sooth everyday aches and pains as well as moisturize dry skin.

Our process is backed by 25 years of experience in organic and medicinal chemistry. We put the same attention to quality and detail into our soaps as we do into our syrup and other Turkeywoods Farm products. We deliver quality, and believe you will be happy with the results.

Soap Ingredients

Shagbark hickory trees are grown organically on our farm in Groton/Mystic, CT. The Shagbark extract is combined with olive, coconut, palm, and castor oils in a traditional hand-crafted saponification process. Olive oil softens and moisturizes the skin. Coconut oil produces a cleansing soap. Palm oil helps harden the bar, so that it lasts longer. Castor oil produces good lather.
